Captain Charles is one of the largest and most amazing seafood restaurants in Maryland. At the seafood house, you can enjoy the benefits of a fresh catch straight from the boat. The restaurant features an oyster bar, live music, sports bar, and family-friendly restaurant. It is known as one of the best spots to enjoy fresh crab, lobster, and of course amazing oysters gathered by local fishermen in the area.
The marina is just outside of the Captain Charles Seafood House and is full service. You can head out on the water for a leisurely cruise after dinner at the seafood house. You can also rent a boat or a slip for the day.
Nearby Town of LaPlata
The town of LaPlata is the county seat for Charles County and dates back to the 1870s when the Pennsylvania Railroad came through Maryland. There are several fun things to enjoy in the town of La Plata including strolling through the downtown area shops, enjoying local museums, eating at the several local restaurants, or visiting one of the country’s smallest historical schoolhouses.

The public schools of Newburgh are all part of the Charles County Public School District. Charles County School District is one of the most highly rated and highly respected education systems in the state of Maryland. Many young families seek to live within the boundaries of the Charles County Public School District. There are a couple of public schools located within the city of Newburg that serve the town’s youngest residents.  Charles County Public Schools located in Newburg include Piccowaxen Middle School and Dr. Thomas L. Higdon Elementary School.
Being that Newburg is such a rural area, there are mostly single-family homes available in the town. There are several great newer housing communities in the Newburg area that offer homes on larger lots.
