Bryans Road is a census area of Charles County in Southern Maryland. The area is named after Oliver Norris Bryan, a farmer from the 19th century who is also a scientist that owned and operated the Locust Grove Farm close to Marshall Hall. Today it is considered a suburban or rural area of larger towns including Washington DC and Indian Head, located right next to the town of Indian Head and across the Potomac River from Virginia south along the river from Washington DC. The community of Bryans Road is seeing growth and interest as it is located just 25 miles from the nation’s capital making it a nice quiet place to settle into with a short commute.

Up until 1890, the area of Bryan’s Road was predominantly comprised of tobacco farms. In 1890 came the establishment of the naval proving grounds at Indian Head and shortly after, commercial development began to make its way into the area around 1920. This is when Bryans Road was official on area maps. The Indian Head Highway helped bring more traffic and business to the area during World War II, and by 1960s Bryans Road was considered a bedroom community for the larger areas of Indian Head and Washington DC.

Just off of Route 210 and Bryans Road this park borders the Pomonkey Creek and Potomac River. The Park is a host to both active and passive recreational activities with large open green areas for soccer and baseball, picnic areas, hiking trails, the ability to fish in the river from the shore, and birdwatching.
This park is located just outside of Bryans Road in the neighboring town of Indian Head. The park is part of 2234 acres purchased by the state to preserve natural lands in 1998 from commercial and residential development. A portion of the grounds is home to the mansion and grounds of the Mount Aventine Estate , which is the historic home of the Chapman family that had significant ties to many of the founding fathers of the United States.
This is a trail that runs 13.4 miles from Mattingly Avenue next to the Indian Head Naval Station to Theodore Green Boulevard just west of US 301. The trail is paved and connects the town of Indian Head with White Plains in Charles County. It was a former railroad corridor and now a favorite spot of runners, bakers, walkers, skaters, etc.

A local favorite located in Clinton this restaurant has been well loved by those in South Maryland for several years. They have since branched out to another location in Bryans Road at 707 five Indian Head Highway. It is a great place to get some classic Italian comfort food.

The Lunch Box Diner is another local restaurant favorite in Bryans Road. This is a classic diner serving up quintessential American favorites for breakfast and lunch. It is a great spot to frequent and get to know other locals that eat at the diner daily.

The public schools of Bryans Road, including Bryan Road Elementary, are part of the Charles County Public School District. Specific schools assigned to serve the youngest residents of Bryans Road include J.C. Parks Elementary School, Matthew Henson Middle School, and Henry E Lackey High School.
"Bryans Road is an excellent suburban town in Maryland that is extremely close to various supermarkets, grocery stores, department stores, and the most popular retail stores in town. A lot of people may explain Bryans Road as being "in the middle of nowhere" because it is pretty far from the main towns in Southern Maryland such as Leonardtown, La Plata, Waldorf, Lexington Park, and more. Come to Bryans Road as a town to live in if you want a beautiful, scenic, and calm suburban community to live in."
"Bryans Road is a nice chill area. Not a whole lot of food places but there are some options. There is a grocery store which is nice. My high school is not that far away. The people are nice most of the time. The area has lots of trees. The area has a park and library. My neighborhood has friendly neighbors that check on each other from time to time."

Bryans Road MD offers a nice eclectic mix of home styles and types. Being that it has a long rich history there are some beautiful historic homes, as well as farm homes on large acreage. There are also some multi-family homes to be found in Bryans Road as well as some up-and-coming new construction master-planned neighborhoods. Homes and land in more rural areas can be found for under $100,000 and home prices can go up to as much as 700,000 for a large single-family home on a large lot.
